Proposed Presentations

Page history last edited by Margaret Olson 1 yr ago

Attendees should be ready to give a presentation that will be of interest to the other attendees - in this case, software entrepreneurs.  Presentations can be designed to educate your peers about a subject that you know well, or raise questions and get feedback about a new trend or idea.

Please post your presentation ideas here so that attendees can plan to attend, express interest in a particular subject, or ask questions.

A suggestion. Before posting a topic here, go read what some entrepreneurs are looking to discuss. Right now it looks to me like there is a disconnect between what people need and what people are offering to provide. There are a few proposals here which fit, but which might benefit by becoming more general (e.g. (not to pick on anyone) a talk on using Twitter to promote your company might work really well as part of a panel on Marketing to End Users Without a Budget).  The discussion requests were a tad messy to read, so I've done my own quick summary of what I saw as major issues and put it at the top of that page, feel free to tweak it.  And if you think you have something to add to a particular presentation, but can't cover the whole thing, put it up and say so. In my (limited so far) experience with this type of conference, it's much more about taking the combined knowledge of multiple people than looking for single experts--stick your neck out and ask someone to pitch in the missing pieces. A discussion around the transformation of Media Distribution from mainstream (Radio, TV, Print, Gossip), to the web and other means of communications. What are the changes, how do they affect us, what are the opportunities for new business and business models that can result.

This is a topic that I have been doing a lot of thinking around. The current elections are changing how data flows along with where and how people organize and get information. I believe that this is the moment we will look back to and say “that’s when it changed” I would be happy to moderate and kickoff a discussion around this topic if people are interested.

Using early stage viral marketing to evolve your product on a low or no budget.  Will intro with a working case study, but it may be interesting to hear from others with similar experience at various stages of growth. Would also be interesting to hear of the pros/cons from a VC member offering a different perspective.

With the increase in complexity of new Web 2.0 applications and deployment stack, the ability to accurately observe the productions systems reduces. How do we debug performance issues in production. The development/deployment cycle is shrinking. The cost of simulating production problems in the labs is prohibitive and so we need to debug problems at the point of occurrence.

If you are copying and pasting from another document be careful to change the font to Arial 100%. I can't figure out how to exapnd the number of rows in the table but adding horizontal lines in each columns works well enough...jsut a little more trouble. If someone who knows how to modify the table to insert rows then please comment, Thanks.

I have fixed the table. The best way to add a row is to pull up the context-menu ("right-click") and then use the "Insert Row After" menu item. Ditto to insert columns. If you are a keyboard person (like I am), you can just tab after the last cell and it will automatically add a row at the end

How blatantly self promotional are these presentations supposed to be? Just asking......

They'll self-correct. If a session is sensed to be too self-oriented and not group-benefitting, people will tend not to attend; or if they do, and sense it moving in a direction they don't grok with, they'll get up and leave...

Andrew- that makes perfect sense to me.

I hope it's ok to throw two proposed presentations up here. One is more presentation, the other is more of idea swap. I am assuming that all will self correct if that's not how it's supposed to happen.
